Who doesn’t love the classics? The cold, the grit, the cobblestones, the tradition. Tour of Flanders is by far one of the biggest races of the classics season. The best way to explain it for those on the west side of the Atlantic, think SuperBowl X Nascar in a winner takes all single day race. The whole country literally comes to a complete stop to witness the coronation of the winner every year.
2016 Was Peter Sagan’s year, not only did he win the race in a dominant fashion by breaking away in the final lap around the dreadful Koppenberg, but he did it the UCI World Champ Rainbow jersey. Below is the route for the 101st Ronde, one of the highlights of the route is the Muur. The Muur is one of the most epic climbs of the race, with it’s 20% gradient it’s sure to be a factor in the day. The course will be increased next year to 259KM from the year before and it will feature 18 climbs once more.
