The CAT4/5 field is usually for beginner cyclists who are just getting introduced to racing their bikes. I’m not sure that applies here, because the 4/5 field on the second race of the Rosewood Winter Series looked nothing like that. From the start, the racing looked different. All the riders were reading moves and those working with teammates were using race strategy to stage attacks at crucial times.

In the 4/5 field, a jersey is given to the rider that completed the most 4/5 races the year before.
The MRCC x Eliel Cycling Last One Buys Coffee kit represented in the race by our very own Jason Delgado. Nothing like pinning numbers on a race kit.

And the racers were off.
The first break of the day came pretty soon in the race.
But the group worked pretty hard to bring those guys back.
And they were eventually caught.
Not a lot of breaks stuck and the group stayed together for the most part. Rider in the pink jersey is Meir Marcus who took video of the race and uploaded it to YouTube. Video posted below.
But that’s racing and you just gotta get back up and push on. One of the intricate beauties of cycling.

Towards the end of the race, two riders took off on their own and stuck together all the way to the end.
Top spot went to the rider from Gracian’s Bicycle Center.

Racer Meir Marcus took video of the CAT4/5 race which he didn’t mind sharing with us. If you’d like to see the race footage, check it out below.
